Kitchens and Bathrooms
Pay special attention to your kitchen and bathrooms. Buyers are always attracted to designer style kitchens and sparkly clean bathrooms. However, even if your kitchen is not magazine worthy, don’t stress. You can make it more attractive by removing all clutter from the counter tops (really). At most, a clean coffee maker with perhaps 2 cups for coffee and sugar, and a bouquet of flowers or bowl of fresh citrus fruits.
Moving on to the bathrooms, clean is (of course) key. Also consider investing in new shower curtains, towels, pretty soaps, and candles. Your agent can guide you on color scheme, but most of the time lots of white in the bathroom sends a message of purity and cleanliness.
Think about doing any small or DIY updates to your kitchen and bathroom now. You would be surprised at how much new hardware for cabinets and drawers can change the character of the room. You may have noticed a common theme in these blogs: as always, replace or repair anything that looks tired or shabby. If you have stained grout or soap scum lurking around, use some baking soda and elbow grease. Ditto if your stovetop isn’t sparkling. If you don’t have the time or inclination for updates, make the most of what you have!
